NEURANTER has been making cane and reeds for three generations. The members of this instrument-making family are professional musicians, a fact that enables them to track all the latest developments in the world of music, especially when it comes to reeds.
All of the various reeds created in the NEURANTER workshops serve as proof positive of the exceptional acoustic qualities that can be obtained through relentlessly striving for perfection, from cane selection all the way to the completion of the reed.
- medium strength
- designed with Pierre-Olivier Martens, famous bassoon player.
« Homogeneous reed that plays well without any additional re-cutting - you need to insert deeply the reed on the neck (as far as you can) to change tuning problems and to avoid playing too low (with this technique, I can play at 444 and even 445 Hz. without any problem).
Those reeds have been made in the same time for minimum re-cut and lasting life, so you might have on some of them a little too much wood on the light part of the reed. In that case, you can slightly re-cut at that place in order to get more harmonics and a clearer sound. In the same time, you might need to re-cut the end of the reed if after a few days you're playing too low.
This reed gets its full sound after 5 days of work and I'm fully satisfied with it, playing either solo, chamber music or as 1st bassoon solo in one of the best international orchestra ! » Pierre-Olivier MARTENS Solo Fagott Bamberger Symphoniker
